The CoreMaxx idea was conceived about 10 years ago while Larry and Mark were at their favorite hunting spot on the Kaibab plateau, in Arizona. This, is a place that they dearly love and have been blessed to be able to hunt for many years. We have taken many deer in this spot and have a deep respect for each and every one of them. This region has an incredible gene pool and from our perspective, warrants our utmost respect and care. At this time Larry and Mark were devoted fans of the thunderhead and muzzy. Fairly reliable broadhead's, but they did find them to be a bit cantankerous at times to "tune" to their bows. On that particular day an enormous buck was wounded and never recovered. Of course the broadhead always gets blamed, but in reality, the shot must have missed the vitals and there just wasn't enough blood flow to follow. They tracked that deer for hours and found a little blood here, and a little blood there. A few tracks here, and a few there, inch after inch they searched and finally, they regrettably lost the trail completely. At the campfire that night there was little anyone could do to console them. Losing a magnificent animal like that is really a hard thing to get over.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the first CoreMaxx was fashioned by turning one of their thunderheads on a lathe and making a flat segment at the 3/4 inch taper mark. Then, they inserted a sharpened ring onto the aforementioned flattened section. When they showed it to their huntin’ buddy's, they were flabbergasted. It looked tenacious! We all began hunting with them and were amazed at a couple of things:

First, our buddies that had been plagued with planing were ecstatic! The arrow drift, or planing, was gone! All of our arrows now flew with consistent patterns, much like our field points.

Second, the wound channel that was created by the broadhead was unbelievable. We began by shooting apples, oranges and watermelons. Then we decided to try it on plywood, which bytheway, looked like you had drilled a 3/4” hole through it, then we punched it into a 55 gallon drum filled with water. We also did this with thunderheads, muzzy’s and numerous others. What we found was that the steel drum wreaked havoc on all of the broadhead's, but the hole punched by the CoreMaxx emptied the water from the Drum 20 times faster than any of the other heads. Each of the other heads cut the 3 slices through the drum okay, but they didn’t reach the opposite side of the drum. The steel from the drum gripped the arrow shaft and formed a fairly tight seal that prevented the water from draining out very fast. The CoreMaxx, on the other hand, opened a hole on the drum that allowed the water to flow freely out of the drum and without the resistance of the steel gripping the shaft, the CoreMaxx penetrated and actually pierced the opposite side causing water to flow from the opposing side as well.

After we had thoroughly convinced ourselves that we had a head worthy of hunting, we all started using them and much to our satisfaction, we found that the head was absolutely devastating to all of the game that we pursued. Deer that we had heretofore hunted with our various types of heads now succumbed more quickly and with a much more distinctive blood trail than we had ever seen before. Turkeys that had previously managed to somehow “fool” us into thinking that they were dead until the “photoshoot” where they would suddenly spring to life and fly away never to be seen again, now stayed dead! Elk that we would normally have tracked for hundreds, or thousands, of yards, were “piling” up in 50 yards and less! We were extremely happy with our newfound friend in the field, it just had a couple of inherent problems to overcome.

The first was the fact that every time that we shot them into our targets, the ring would pull off when you removed the arrow and you would have to put a new ring on after every shot, a real pain. Our solution, I am proud to say, has proven to be perfect. We cleverly created a fracture in the spline of each blade that could be tweaked enough to insert the ring then snapped back into place and secured into the ferrule with the existing slot. Presto, problem solved. (Not exactly Presto, it took a lot of trial and error to finally come up with this solution but the end result was truly ingenious.)

As you can tell, we are passionate about our broadhead. We believe in it! We hunt with it! And, we are anxious to share it with as many hunters as we can because we truly feel like it is destined to be proven a much more lethal broadhead resulting in cleaner, quicker kills and fewer animals being lost.

Bottom line is this. We had issues to overcome in order to find the right metal to use to give maximum strength, and durability. We formulated a custom extrusion of proprietary blended metals that have strength, flexibility, hardness and weight considerations. The ring and blade serrations have a carefully crafted pitch and are sequentially positioned to maximize penetration yet flow silently through the air providing maximum impact and the ultimate wound channel.

Will there be animals wounded and never recovered? Of course there will be. Are we the silver bullet that everyone has been looking for? We think so! We are constantly looking for ways to make improvements, but we truly believe that we have a broadhead that is as lethal as possible. Proper shot placement is vital with any broadhead or firearm, but we truly believe that hunting with CoreMaxx brings you much closer to success. That is why we proudly proclaim,
“                   Game-Over!”
And, we enthusiastically welcome you, to the family!

Sincerely,
The CoreMaxx ProStaff
